On September 12, 2024, the second meeting of the Ukraine-EU/Euratom Joint Committee on Research and Innovation took place, marking the first time the meeting was held in Ukraine since the signing of the Horizon Europe Agreement. The meeting was conducted in a hybrid format at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.”
Key topics of discussion included the current state of Ukraine’s research system, the impact of Russia’s aggression on the research and innovation ecosystem, and the role of research in the country’s reconstruction. Additionally, Ukraine’s participation in the EU programs “Horizon Europe” and Euratom was reviewed, along with updates on EU initiatives aimed at supporting Ukraine.
On September 13, the European delegation, together with representatives of the Ministry of Education, will visit leading universities, research institutions, and private organizations involved in implementing projects under these programs. This event served as an important platform for further integrating Ukraine into the European Research Area.
