On September 21, 2016 the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” will host the final conference within the framework of the project “UKRAINE – Ukraine Replication, Awareness and Innovation based on EGNSS”, which is among the first projects funded by the EU Research & Innovation programme Horizon 2020. Ukrainian organizations taking part in the project are as follows: State Space Agency of Ukraine, National Aviation University, and National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”.
The purpose of the project is to promote the usage of the European Global Navigation Satellite System (EGNSS) and European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) in Ukraine.
The implementation of these systems in Ukraine will favour the increase of security level and performance efficiency of those industry branches which require information concerning the exact location of different objects, particularly air, sea, and ground transport.
Within the framework of the conference there will be presented the results of 2-year work of both European and Ukrainian partners on the research of EGNSS system usage in Ukraine and its testing in key directions (in aviation, multimodal logistics and transportation of dangerous goods). One of the most important tasks during the conference implies discussion of further perspectives of EGNSS in Ukraine, Ukraine’s integration into European navigation system programs, and directions of further cooperation between European and Ukrainian partners.
Among the participants of the conference there are representatives of the European Commission, European GNSS Agency (GSA), the State Space Agency of Ukraine, relevant ministries, associations, and research institutions from Ukraine and EU, business sector representatives.
